I am called Ignatious Casque. Thank you for joining us here. I will be your cordial host at this locale where I share knowledge gained, persons met, places seen, items unearthed, and adventures adventured.
Kind readers, I shall admit to you that I do not originate from this time but from 1866. In my time, Britain was expanding its power over the world under Queen Victoria, and many secret technologies were being developed around the world. Yet here, now, I have combed through your history books and find many great intrigues failing to be mentioned. I seek to rectify this shortfall of chronology.
My representative in this time and place is one Gren Radcliff, who contributes and assists in my understanding the sociology of your time. Unless necessary action keeps us away, you shall find us here daily reporting all that we find Steampunk in the world.

I am currently seeking routes to return to writing in the Ignatious Casque world. It is difficult as I am currently writing (re-writing really) and drawing and self-publishing my first true attempt at comic books, Corporate Bastard (originally published 1 part in 2001). The project is coming along well and does look to be finished by the deadline of October 17th. While I can do the art for this project, Ignatious Casque is far too visually rich of a story in my mind for me to even begin to attempt.
This is unleashing ideas and energy though. These adventures will come to light. Sorry to have delayed them.

Well, Phoenix Comicon is all finished. Even 2 weeks later I am still not over how cool it was or how quickly it went by. Cannot wait for next year.
Possible plans to head to the inaugural Albuquerque convention look to be out as more saving will be necessary to have funds for San Diego. Albuquerque looks good though with a great line-up of guests, and I hear they are using how Phoenix runs its convention as a guide, which gives me a little point of pride.
San Diego is going to be greater than ever for me as more friends are traveling with me than anytime before. My preparations of my writings are better situated as well. Great excitement is surrounding me!

Still sorting through everything from the Comic-con out in San Diego, but we have a general Photobucket album posted for your perusal.

It needs a little sorting and description, but I will save that for the next few nights. If you spy yourself, please let us know.

Sorry for a delay in reporting back from Comic-con San Diego. It was a great trip to meet great new people. So much to work on, persons to contact when we returned home. Then I went and disabled my computer with a virus.
But it’s all better now. I will have many photos from the con up in next few days. (There are many so I am building a new Flickr for them)
And the Steampunk Meet-up was quite awesome. Record-setting even.

It was not long fore I found the beast, its luminous eyes may have spotted me first. A Daak-tore, as Ether Bunny had warned me about.
The creature was so large as to fill most of the cavern we occupied. A pale, slug-like mass, it could have swallowed me whole with its gaping maw. The limbless creature progressed slowly toward me. Its crawling pace set me nearly off guard when a tentacle launched at me from inside the thing’s mouth.
I slashed at the tentacle with my saber to avoid its sucker tip. My blade only slid off the tendril which retreated quickly back to the creature. I had precious little time fore it struck again.
Reaching into my satchel I searched for the best weapon to strike with. Calculating most rapidly, I knew that this beast from its parasitic nature was of the negative polarity of aetheral beasts, and the best counter for that kind of creature is always dense fruit. My hand found a particularly potent variety of apple that I keep stocked for just the situation (or possibly a snack).
While still on one knee I wound back my arm. There would be only a split second to throw. Pitching the apple hard, it disappeared into the wide orifice of the beast.
The tendril struck out at me again. Predicting my dodge it curved so as to catch the forehead of my mask. Yet it needed flesh contact to steal my consciousness. That was when a psychic ripple passed through my body.
The Daak-tore’s many glowing eyes dimmed and the tentacle attached to mask began to dissolve from inside the beast. A second later it had totally fallen away from me as the beast collapsed in on itself, ultimately becoming a thick layer of ash on the ground.
Once nearly all of the creature had dissolved I inspected the area cautiously. Little trace was left except the many sets of opalesque eyes, which I collected for research by the good Dr. Watson. Exploration deeper into the cave confirmed there were no other beasts living there, and as I returned to my vehicle EB concurred.
I revisited Branson to see if the people showed signs of normalcy. My instruments’ readings put the populace in the standard range, so before leaving I attended several events that were agreeable. Interestingly, just before returning to Phoenix I heard a different youth say, “Branson still isn’t very memorable.” I guess it is not a place for quite everyone.
Remember: An apple a day keeps the Daak-tore away.

Well, so far I must say I am surprised to find so little in the programming that is specifically oriented towards persons interested in Steampunk. But perhaps more is still being listed.
At this point, we have…
Friday: Nothing?! I have found nothing related to steampunk in any way.
Saturday:
- 1:30 PM : China Mieville. Author of beautiful novels like Perdido Street Station, The Scar, and Iron Council.
- 5 PM : Hellboy, The BRPD, and Beyond. Mike Mignola (Hellboy creator) and Duncan Fegredo speak about all things Hellboy.
Sunday:
- 10:30 AM : Spotlight on Ann and Jeff VanderMeer. Duo speaks of weird tales, steampunk, and imaginary animals. Some of those may be titles.
So that is all, for now. See you there.

Not a known adventurer has ever chosen to live in the vicinity of the hilly swamp region of the Missouri territory known as “the Ozarks”. Indeed, the region is so densely forested and sparsely populated that it’s Extra-Dimensional Fauna (EDF’s) have been for the most part undisturbed and/or unrecorded. Therefore I was not too surprised when Ether Bunny reported that a large surge of psychokinetic energy had begun moving in highly unusual patterns. It was best to investigate.
We slipped into the populated area of Branson, MO where energy readings were very strange. My instruments suggested we may be walking into a zombie plague yet I saw no signs of warfare that may accompany such an infection. Minutes later I spotted normal humans in no sort of distress. It was perplexing.
As I returned to my vehicle and attempted to relay my findings to Ether Bunny it was apparent that I was experiencing a mental block at describing the events I had witness only moments before. We hypothesized that some type of telepathic occurrence must be happening. I felt a bit silly for not having activated my telesonic inhibiting device upon entering the region. It is meant to aid in my faculties in operating at their normal levels in just this sort of situation.
To gather further information I made contact with several locals and tourists. One young adult reported that Branson was “a none too memorable place”, and almost all had trouble remembering any specifics of the previous few days. Though no person I spoke with had mentioned it, a local paper reported several persons were missing in the area of one cave not far from my current location. I saw this as confirming my assumptions.
We proceeded to the cave in question. A perfect lair for any beast but we suspected that it was currently home to a psychokinetic parasite, one of great size or power. The cavern was too small at its entrance to allow my vehicle (and EB) access and thus I ventured forth alone with my satchel and saber.
To be continued…
Remember: Always be prepared.

As Ignatious and myself have locked in our attendance at this year’s Comicon in San Diego, I was fulfilled to hear the programming schedule was beginning to be posted today. I have just started to pour over the contents of Thursday and will compile a brief list of interesting appearances (other than Ignatious Casque). Steampunk-related panels are of course my main priority!
Thursday:
- 10:30 AM : Danny Elfman. The man behind all music for any Tim Burton film.
- 11 AM : The Clockwork Girl. Producers of the film adapted from the comic book speak.
- 2 PM : Radical Publishing Panel. Jimmy Palmiotti (Jonah Hex) and Peter Milligan (Egypt, X-Statix) are only two of many.
I will likely expand this list and continue on as soon as the rest of the week’s programs are online.
Please add what panels you will be attending or what you think is of interest for the Con.
